Front Row Theatre Company is a brand new theatre company created by UCLan acting graduates. They will be performing the premiere production ‘Food For Thought’ at the Preston Minster in January.
Actress, Abigail Ramsdale, said, “the ethos of Front Row is about making theatre accessible to all and that’s exactly what we are aiming to do. The company are currently in rehearsals for their tour which kicks off at St John’s Church (The Minster) in Preston. Following the premiere performance they will be appearing at many other venues over the North West.
Food For Thought is a story centred around the lives of the volunteers and clients of a food bank in a rural area of the UK. A local politician attempts to shut down the food bank for personal and financial gain by manipulating those around him.
The food bank volunteers face difficult decisions, both for the food bank and themselves. Are they able to figure out the truth in time before both their lives and the food bank come tumbling down?
The homeless, the unemployed, those in full-time employment and many other people right across Britain are finding themselves being referred to food banks. Front Row Theatre Company are aiming to raise awareness of this and will be touring their production of Food For Thought around community centres and theatre spaces located close to food banks.
Food for Thought is inspired by The Trussell Trust. The UK’s leading national food bank organisation.
Front Row Theatre Company was established in 2014 by a collective of UCLan BA (Hons) Acting graduates, they hope to become known as the theatre that puts Preston’s arts scene on the map by showcasing the huge talent and high quality professionals that are emerging from the University of Central Lancashire, located within the city of Preston. Their aim is to create significant, exciting and entertaining productions that provide an approachable platform for all of society and, in turn, provides opportunities for a deeper understanding of performance art.
In time they hope to have a constant theatre venue in Preston, with the freedom and artistic licence to create productions throughout the year that engage and captivate the public’s imagination.
The premiere production will be performed on Monday 26th Jan 7.30pm- The Minster Preston.
