Penwortham magazine takes nostalgic trip back to 1980s

Raft race in 1981 down the Ribble

A lookback at the history of Penwortham has been published in the monthly Penwortham magazine.

Put together by local resident Heather Crook it takes a nostalgic trip back to the Penwortham of the past.

It includes a look at the a raft race down the Ribble in the early 1980s.

There were certainly some unusual characters powering the rafts which set off from the Old Tram Bridge in 1981.
