A 79 year old woman has died after a collision on Preston Docks on Saturday afternoon.

Lancashire Police say Eunice Whalley, from Chorley, was taken ill at her home after the crash at 5.30pm on Saturday.

Paramedics were called to the incident at the traffic lights between Watery Lane and Port Way.

The collision happened between a silver Ford Focus and a foreign registered green Saab 95 saloon.

No injuries were reported at the time and Mrs Whalley, the front seat passenger in the Ford Focus, returned home.

However, an ambulance was called on Saturday night to her home address and she was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where she has died.

A full investigation has been initiated to establish the cause of death and the Coroner has been made aware of the circumstances.

PS Gareth Hill of South Road Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the family and friends of Eunice at this difficult time. An investigation into how the collision occurred is underway and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact us.”

Anyone with any information can contact Lancashire Police on 101 quoting log reference number LC-20141213-1032.

Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
