A woman injured when she went under a train between Lostock Hall and Bamber Bridge is in a stable condition in hospital.

British Transport Police were called shortly after 5pm on Monday to the Farrington Curve to reports of a woman under a train.

North West Ambulance Service and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were also called, and worked to rescue the woman.

She is said to be in her 40s and in hospital after suffering serious head injuries.

Delays of up to two hours were caused to Northern Rail services while the incident took place.
