A new dry cleaners looks set to open at the Sainsbury’s supermarket in Deepdale.
AdvertisementTimpson have applied to create a dry cleaners and key cutters next to the Flintoff Way supermarket.
The dry cleaners would create one new full-time job and be open from 9am to 6pm Mondays to Saturdays and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
The land used for the new building would be a current trolley storage bay at the Deepdale store.
A statement to the city council’s planning department says: “The proposed dry cleaning concession pod will provide an additional retail offer to the supermarkets existing customers.
“It is considered that the proposed works will not have an adverse impact on the local visual amenity or a detrimental effect on the character and appearance of the area.”
A separate planning application has gone in for illuminated signage for the dry cleaners.
It follows approved plans to add a dentist to the Deepdale store as Sainsbury’s look to expand the uses of its supermarket.
The full plans can be viewed on the city council website and comments can be left there or by emailing devcon@preston.gov.uk quoting reference 06/2014/0823 by Wednesday 26 November.
