Three or four men entered the McColls newsagents on Ribbleton Avenue at 7.15am on Friday 31 October.
They threatened staff and a security guard who was filling up the cash machine inside the shop.
The guard sustained a minor cut to his hip during the incident.
The men made off in an Audi which police have already recovered but are now looking for a bright red Nissan GTR Skyline seen driving away from the scene of the robbery.
The Nissan was last seen travelling along Ribbleton Avenue towards the junction of Blackpool Road around 7.20am and may be an outstanding stolen vehicle.
DS Jerry Sturgess of Preston CID said: “The red Nissan may still be in the Preston area and I would urge anyone that may have seen the car or knows of its whereabouts now, to contact us as soon as possible. Any information you may have could help us with our enquiries.”
