Preston’s Mayor and Mayoress have opened a new training salon for hair and beauty students at Preston’s College.
AdvertisementCouncillor Nick Pomfret and his wife Barbara cut the ribbon on the Elements Hair and Beauty Training Salon.
It was opened during the College’s open day.
Councillor Pomfret, Mayor of Preston, said: “Elements has been developed in conjunction with local employers who have helped to set the standards that learners will be expected to work to.
“This type of partnership is to be applauded as it will make our young people more work-ready and employable when they leave College to enter the increasingly competitive and demanding world of work.”
Davinia Mape, head of school for hairdressing and beauty therapy at Preston’s College, said: “We want to be leading the way in terms of training for the professionals of tomorrow, and are proud to have such an excellent facility to give our students the very best beginning to a rewarding career.”
The salon is a Wella Centre of Excellence and allows hairdressing and beauty theraphy students to learn how to work with real clients. They are also helping to run the salon and gain experience of the business and marketing side of the salon.
