Preston man arrested after armed robbery in Plungington

A Preston man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a man hunt in Plungington on Tuesday.

Preston Police were called to a report of a knifepoint robbert at Lily and Eve Hairdressers on Villiers Street.

A man had gone into the shop and threatened staff with a knife before making off with cash.

While police were searching for the suspect, which included the police helicopter being called out, a second call was received saying a man had unsuccessfully tried to steal a car on Eldon Street.

A mobile phone had been taken from the car’s driver before the man made off.

Police say the 40-year-old man is in custody and no one was hurt in the incidents.
