Preston’s women are being asked to get bristly and set a new world record.

During the Christmas lights switch on thousands of women will be preparing to watch the lights turn on.

Aimee Johnson, from Preston College Enterprise Society, is behind the moustache movement.

She said: “We aim to break the world record for the most women to be wearing moustaches in one place at one time.

“It’s not only for the record but to support Movember.

The current world record stands at 2,268 women, set in Iowa in July 2013.

Johnson said she was in talks with Preston’s Business Improvement District who are organising the lights switch on for Saturday 15 November.

She also needs local businesses to help raise £450 for the record to be officially accredited.

Anyone wanting to take part is asked to show their support on the Get your tache on for Movember and be a record breaker Facebook group.
