Ian Cherry (third from left) is heading up the Preston Aikido Club
The top room of an accountants building in the Georgian surroundings of Winckley Square is now a martial arts centre.
AdvertisementKung fu fighting accountant Ian Cherry decided to convert the top floor of his offices into a dojo.
Up to 15 people can fit into the new studio which is fitted with padded crash mats.
Three aikido sessions are running a week at the IA Cherry Accountants.
Mr Cherry, who is a 5th dan in the martial art, said: “We’ve had a great response to the studio,
“If you look at how the martial art started it was in people’s homes or in small rooms where a few people would train.
“This keeps that spirit of it alive. We have one beginners session a week, so anyone can come along and join the club.”
Inside the dojo
The offices used to be part of Cherry’s old school, but now he has turned teacher to put new recruits through their paces.
