He said: “The location is just super. It’s nice and light and we think what we’ve done will compliment the architecture here.

“Everyone I have spoken to says it is time they had somewhere like the Olive Tree in Preston. The city is ready for it.

The Olive Tree is facing onto Fishergate and the launch party was filled with familiar faces from Preston City Council’s cabinet who had come to support the venture.

Preston City Council leader councillor Peter Rankin was in attendance and said: “It’s great to see something opening in the Miller Arcade. This is about saying Preston has a bustling nightlife but also lots of different options for people, particularly in the early evening.”

Actors Ryan and Adam Thomas (Coronation Street and Emmerdale0 popped into support Wilson’s opening night. Wilson, who is also a model, said Ryan was an old friend.

The restaurant has created 20 jobs in the city, and recently finished second in the Lancashire Life Lancashire Food and Drink Awards.
