With only two days to go before the official opening event, things are hotting up in Preston’s newest restaurant. Many of the staff have been preparing for weeks and they can’t wait to serve up some traditional Caribbean dishes to the people of Preston.
Chef Tom Phillips is looking forward to the opening.
He said: “I’ve cooked Italian and French food in the past so I’m really excited about this opportunity to create Caribbean dishes. It’s been fantastic learning the new dishes. I’ve had six weeks working at the restaurant in Manchester and you can tell that there’s definitely a market out there for this type of food.”
So what would Tom recommend?
“All the dishes are really good and it’s hard to pick a favourite but I especially like the Trinidad Chicken Curry. It’s one of the best curries I’ve ever tasted, and the Chicken Flatbreads are gorgeous too. I’m more on the grill side of things so chicken and steaks are my speciality. When someone tells you that was the best steak they’ve ever had, well that’s what it’s about for me – you can feel good about that.”
From inside the restaurant you can also just sit and look out over Preston’s historic Flag Market and Harris building while sipping on a cocktail. Turtle Bay looks set to be a very welcome addition to the City’s restaurant scene.
