Mosque owners in Fulwood have tabled plans for creating a new community centre opposite.
AdvertisementSalaam Education Trust purchased the former Sharoe Green Neuro Rehabilitation Centre earlier this year.
Now Cassidy and Ashton have submitted proposals to convert the building into a community centre.
The former NHS building, located next to the Preston Business Centre on Watling Street Road, Sharoe Green, would be changed to the new use.
A statement from Cassidy and Ashton states there would be no increase in traffic to the site compared to the previous level of traffic when under NHS use.
It states: “The building is single storey, non descript in appearance and synonymous of 1970s or thereabouts, NHS buildings. It is arranged in a series of blocks, laid out in a square, connected by corridors with a central but contained courtyard.”
The community centre is to ionclude an IT area and library, plus a community hall available to hire.
Adult education and children’s education classes are planned to take place.
