Carl Barton is wanted by police in connection with the stabbing

A man linked to a number of addresses in Bamber Bridge is wanted in connection with an attempted murder.

Preston Police want to speak to Carl Barton, 28, after a man was stabbed outside a Spar Shop in Clayton Brook.

The man, 28, is in a critical but stable condition in hospital after suffering a number of serious stab wounds shortly after 4pm on Sunday.

Detective Sergeant Diane Higham, of South CID, said: “This was an extremely serious assault and the victim is lucky to still be alive. It is vital that we trace Carl Barton as a matter of urgency and I would appeal to anyone who knows where he might be to get in touch with us.

“I would also appeal to Carl himself, if he sees this appeal, to hand himself in to police so that we can speak to him.

“I would urge members of the public not to approach Carl Barton directly but to contact police.”
