A charity cycle ride starting from Preston to raise funds for a local childrens hospice has been announced.

The Winckley Winter Warmer should see up to 100 cyclists taking on a 60km ride into the countryside to the south of Preston.

A challenging route takes you out of Winckley Square, the start point, and down through Euxton, Eccleston and Mawdesley.

Arriving at Rufford Marina the riders are to take a cafe stop and re-group before returning via Bretherton, Croston, Ulnes Walton, Longton and Penwortham.

Organisers are advising and average level of fitness and cycling experienced is needed for taking on the route.

Entry is £5 which is a donation to the hospice.

The ride is on Sunday 7 December from 9.30am. Only 100 places are available. Places must be booked online.

The event is organised and supported by design agency Deaf Pigeon, Heckford and cafe Winckleys.
