Two house fires have been dealt with by Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service during Friday.

The first on Deborah Avenue in Fulwood saw a kitchen fire put out after firefighters had to ram down the door to gain access.

Neighbours made the 999 call after seeing smoke. The householder wasn’t at home and there were no injuries sustained during the incident at 11.27am.

At 3.02pm on Tennyson Road, Ribbleton, a fire had started in a meter box.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze and used a portable fan to clear smoke from the building.

Members of the Fire Brigade Union joined a national strike from 6pm on Friday, which lasts until midnight on Tuesday 4 November.
