A new weekly football session is to take place for young footballers in the city.

Children aged 10 to 16 are invited to West View Leisure Centre to play a Streetwise Soccer Mashup.

It launches on Thursday 23 October after the city council’s sports department secured funding for the event.

Cabinet member for Culture and Leisure Services, Councillor Veronica Afrin said: “This is a great opportunity for young people to have fun, learn new skills and be active in a safe environment. We are really pleased to be able to offer this new and exciting programme.”

Taking part will cost youngsters 50p and the session runs from 5pm to 6pm every Thursday.

It will take place on the 3G Pitch at West View.
