A touch of Hollywood has come to Preston as filming takes place in the city centre for a new movie.
AdvertisementA Monster Calls is to star Liam Neeson and Sigourney Weaver, who have been filming across the North West in recent weeks.
The Great Times restaurant on Lancaster Road is being used as a location for part of a film.
Filming has been taking place since early on Thursday morning.
Excited Twitter users have been speculating whether Neeson or Weaver are in Preston, but it is not thought they are due to be filming.
Young star Lewis MacDougall is on set though, who plays Conor – one of the lead characters in the film which is an adaptation of the novel by Patrick Ness.
It’s not the first time Preston has been used as a location for films and television shows.
A council spokesman said: “We have helped them with their filming by sectioning off part of the market area for the filming and accommodating their car parking needs and other logistics.
“We always try to help with any filming request as it is good for Preston and we get quite a few requests every year from TV and film production companies to film in Preston.
“It’s not everyday though that you requests from a potentially big film like this that has some well-known and up and coming actors on the cast list. Hopefully, the film is a box office success and it encourages even more film makers to have set locations in Preston.”
Filming took place at Rivington Pike, near Chorley, earlier in the week and a number of scenes have also been filmed in Huddersfield.
