An event to discuss potential fracking in the countryside on the edge of Preston has been called.
AdvertisementCampaign groups are holding a summit at Preston’s St John Minster called Fracking in Lancashire.
Friends of the Earth and Frack Free Lancashire are among the organisations to speak at the event.
Cuadrilla have applied to Lancashire County Council to resume fracking at Roseacre Wood, which is near Inskip and Woodplumpton.
The event on Tuesday 4 November is a few weeks before the county council makes its decision on whether to allow fracking to resume.
It was suspended in 2011 after the Blackpool area experienced an earthquake following activity at the firm’s Preese Hall site.
The company has also applied to install monitoring sites in a ring around the Roseacre site.
Speakers at the event include:
Fran Sullivan, UNITE the Union
Helen Rimmer, Friends of the Earth
Mike Hill, Oil and Gas Engineer, B.Sc C.Eng. MIET
Anne Chapman, Morecambe Bay Community Renewables
Stephen Garsed, local Anglican and Catholic Dioceses Environment Groups
Ebony Johnson, Frack Free Lancashire
Cuadrilla have been invited to attend the event at the Minster.
The event is free to attend and runs from 7pm to 9pm. You can register a place using Eventbrite.
