Drama and music from China has been performed for students and staff at a Preston university to enjoy.

The University of Central Lancashire hosted a performing arts troupe from South-Central University for Nationalities in China.

The public were also invited to the show which marks 10 years of the Confucius Institute.

Feixi Yu, the Director of UCLan Confucius Institute, said: “The event was a resounding success and it gave us a fantastic opportunity to share China’s traditions with local people. We were very grateful for the support of the Mayor of Preston, Councillor Nick Pomfret, at this event which he told us he thoroughly enjoyed.”

Confucius Institutes aim to promote Chinese language and culture in local communities. UCLan’s own Confucius Institute celebrated its own five year anniversary last year with a Chinese opera concert.
