A Preston entrepreneur has scooped an award for her new ready meal range.
AdvertisementThe PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) Awards named one of Kirsty Henshaw’s meals as the best for vegans.
Her Moroccan Vegetables with Quinoa meal picked up the prize.
Kirsty, who is from Penwortham, said: “I’m absolutely chuffed to bits. This is such a great honour and will really help raise the profile of the Kirsty’s brand even further. We’re already stocked by many of the UK’s best known supermarket chains including Asda, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Budgens and online retailer Ocado, so who knows, this could open a few more supermarket doors for us.
“Our loyal customers tell us how much they love Kirsty’s meals because they are healthy, convenient and affordable, so it would be great if we could widen our distribution so more people can enjoy these benefits.”
Henshaw started her firm after winning support by appearing on TV show Dragon’s Den for her ice cream business.
She’s now expanded to produce a number of different ranges.
PETa’s Mimi Bekheci said: “PETA’s winners are the perfect example of how today’s businesses – from the finest hotels to the price-conscious supermarket – are meeting the demand for food that’s healthy, humane and eco-friendly.
“With so many delicious products available at the click of a button and at the local grocery store, there has never been a better time to go vegan.”
