They and their families have been invited to a Civic Reception at the Harris Museum and Art Gallery to recognise their achievements.
Councillor Nick Pomfret, Mayor of Preston, said: “These are fantastic sporting achievements by two young Prestonians and this reception will recognise and congratulate them for their hard work and dedication in getting this far in their careers.
“I’m sure both Scott and Steph will carry on and win many more medals in the future and they should know that their city is very proud of them.”
Fitzgerald won gold in the welterweight division, while Slater won silver in the para-sport 100m freestyle.
Cabinet member for culture and leisure, Councillor Veronica Afrin, said: “The people of Preston are very proud of Scott’s and Steph’s success and we felt we had to thank them formally, along with their families and clubs who help them so much.
“Preston Sports Forum plays such a big part and supports the many different sports clubs around the city, allowing these young sports men and women to flourish and reach their potential.”
Volunteers from Larches and Savick boxing club as well as Preston swimming club are on the guestlist for the event on Friday 19 September.
