A Preston schoolboy is to appear at one of the biggest speaking events in the world.
Jamies Edwards, 13, is an amateur scientist who is the youngest person ever to achieve nuclear fusion.
In his school lab at Penwortham Priory Academy he collided the nuclei of hydrogen atoms via intertial electrostatic confinement.
He will speak at the TedxSalford alongside the youngest Nobel peace prize winner, the founder of the World Toilet Organisation and the CEO of Hailo.
Edwards is currently working on building a miniature hadron collider for his next project.

His talk, which lasts 18 minutes, will share his ideas on science at the Salford event.
TED talks are filmed and are some of the most watched videos on YouTube, featuring people from all kinds of industries.
The event takes place on Sunday 5 October at the Lowry Theatre near MediaCity on Salford Quays. It runs from 10am to 8.30pm.
