Emma Heslewood, the curator of history at the Harris Museum, will be delivering a free talk on Will Onda, film maker and acrobat of the early 20th century. The history of Will Onda, real name Hugh Rain, has been forefront in Emma’s work over the last few years and her research has brought to light many interesting facts of this Preston born film entertainment pioneer and very successful businessman. Hear what Emma has to say about Onda’s early life as an acrobat and how he became Preston’s leading cinema owner who, during his lifetime produced an incredible record of Preston on film, including life on the home front in WW1.
