A family were out attending a son’s wedding in Manchester when the thieves struck.
They forced their way into the property on Wellington Street and stole a large number of wedding presents which were being stored at the house.
The burglary happened betwen 10am on Monday 4 August and 1am on Tuesday 5 August.
PC Gary Latham of Preston Police said: “We believe the offender(s) may have specifically targeted the address because they were aware that the occupants were attending a wedding and knew that there was a significant amount of money and jewellery in the house. The victims have understandably been left devastated by this burglary and I would appeal to anyone who has any information that could assist with our investigation to contact us.
“I would also urge all residents, particularly those in Asian communities, to remain vigilant. In homes where large amounts of expensive jewellery is kept, we recommend taking extra steps to keep your property safe.”
