The register office moves back to its permanent home of Bow Lane from mid-August.
AdvertisementPreston’s register office has been operating from the Park Hotel at East Cliff since April last year while building work was carried out at County Hall.
From Friday 15 August all appointments to register births, deaths and still-births, together with notices of marriages and civil partnerships, will be back at Bow Lane.
Ceremonies head back to Bow Lane a week earlier, the first one on Thursday 7 August.
Steve Lloyd, Lancashire County Council’s registration and coroner’s support manager, said: “Unfortunately we will have to close for a day and a half from lunchtime on Wednesday 13 August while we pack up and move back to our old home.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but we are sure that the refurbished offices, including the popular ceremonies room, will meet with the approval of everyone who uses them.
“As part of the changes, we are also offering a new service where people will be able to register births at the Riverbank Children’s Centre on Brieryfield Road every Tuesday from 12 August onwards.”
Opening hours for the Register Office will remain the same. They are 9am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
