Police are guarding the scene of a stabbing in Deepdale.

Officers from Preston Police and an ambulance were called to St Stephen’s Road just before midnight on Saturday.

A man has died in the incident, in what police are calling a “knife incident”.

A 20 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, according to a police statement released at 1pm on Sunday.

One local resident, who did not wish to be named, said: “Last night just before midnight two police cars a police van and an ambulance raced up St Paul’s Rd and turned into St Stephen’s Rd. It soon emerged that a stabbing had taken place. A little later two neighbours reported to me that there had been a fatality. Police have been in attendance all night and are still present.”

Shortly after 8am Blog Preston readers reported a forensic tent and police tape, with police officers guarding it, were still on the scene near the corner with St Paul’s Road. The police cordon remains in place.
