Fire crews were called to investigate a potential gas leak after a manhole cover shot through the air in Preston city centre.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were called just after 1pm to Lancaster Road.

The manhole cover was blown into the air by the blast. No was injured.

Fire crews said there was no gas leak and United Utilities are now investigating the cause.
