An indoor beach returns to a Preston shopping centre on Saturday for the month.
AdvertisementSt George’s Shopping Centre is shipping in 11 tonnes of sand, decking and a seven meter tall palm tree.
Shoppers can pull up a deck chair and take a break from the shopping in the 28 metre square beach.
Andrew Stringer, general manager at St George’s Shopping Centre, said: “Bringing back the beach with a new theme this year will once again help give visitors to Preston a fantastic shopping experience.
“The Beach Club will kick-start a series of large scale events. We plan to reveal a show-stopping student event in September while also supporting a city-wide fashion show to display the variety of brands and independent retailers available in City.”
Mark Whittle from Preston’s Business Improvement District, said: “Preston city centre has a strong retail and leisure offer but events on this scale, particularly when they’re family friendly, help to attract more visitors helping local businesses to thrive.”
A competition is being run for anyone visiting the beach to win £500 towards their next holiday.
The beach is free to visit and is open from 10am to 4pm until Saturday 30 August.
