A fourth morning of raids across the city has seen five more people arrested in connection with supplying drugs in Preston.

Officers from Preston Police smashed their way into homes on St Thomas Road, New Hall Lane, Fishergate Hill, Millbank in Fulwood and Cypress Close in Ribbleton.

The arrests of five men take the total of arrests to 21 in a four day operation, codenamed Nemesis, aimed at breaking up a suspected drugs gang in the city.

Two men from Preston, aged 21 and 24, have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of heroin.

A 44 year old man from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of possessing heroin with intent to supply.

A 36 year old man from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of possessing heroin with intent to supply.

A 19 year old man from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

Detective Inspector Atkinson added: “Operation Nemesis has been set up to deal with Organised Crime Groups (OCGs) causing serious anti-social behaviour and disruption to local neighbourhoods. These OCGs are actively involved in the supply of class A drugs such as heroin and cocaine, as well as class B drugs such as cannabis and we will continue to deal with them robustly.

“We take this type of criminality extremely seriously and would urge decent members of the public to report any suspicions to us in the safe knowledge that we will deal with these individuals. The vast majority of our activities are driven by community intelligence and it is extremely satisfying to be able to target criminal groups who cause the greatest concern.”

On Wednesday police released a video showing a raid taking place at the home of a suspected drug dealer in Preston. If you’re on our app, click here to watch the video.
