Prestonians are being asked to vote for their favourite shop window display in the city centre.
AdvertisementRetailers across the city, from big chains to charity shops, will be competing to show they’ve got the best shop window.
Up for grabs is £500 to the wining shop to spend on a celebration for their staff at a city centre venue.
St George’s and Fishergate Shopping Centres have put up the prize in the competition organised by Preston’s Business Improvement District.
Chair of Preston’s City Retail Forum and manager of St George’s Shopping Centre, Andrew Stringer said: “This competition is about more than just making a nice looking display; it’s about retailers coming together in a healthy competition and encouraging the city’s customers to look a little more closely at shops and businesses that they might not ordinarily visit.”
Anyone can vote either by scanning a poster in any of the shop windows of stores taking part or by visiting an online survey.
Keith Mitchell, manager of the Fishergate Shopping centre, co-sponsors of the competition said: “we’re pleased to be supporting this competition and would encourage as many retailers as possible to enter. It’s a great opportunity for members of the public to get involved, have a good look around the city centre and cast their vote.”
Kevin Barrett, operations officer from Preston BID who co-ordinate the City Retail Forum said: “Many of the city’s favourite retailers are now represented on the forum, giving us a great base from which to continually work together to sustain and improve Preston’s offer. We’re looking forward to seeing the creativity of our colleagues and encourage the people of Preston and beyond, to vote for their favourite store.”
Anyone voting and leaving their email address can chose to be entered into a prize draw to win a pair of tickets to a Preston show.
Votes can be cast between Monday 1 September and Tuesday 23 September.
