The M55 westbound entry slip road from the M6 at Preston has re-opened after a serious accident
The westbound stretch between junction 1 and 3 was closed from around 6.30pm until 9.15pm.
The motorway is now fully re-open.
The Air Ambulance were called after to near junction 3 of the M55.
Three children are believed to have been injured after a 4×4 overturned. One of the children has been flown to the Manchester Children’s Hospital.
Two adults are said to have bruises. The injuries to the children are not believed to be life-threatening.
Highways Agency North West had reported the slip road would not re-open until 12.45am on Monday, but police cleared the motorway faster than expected.
North West Motorway Police tweeted around 6.40pm: “If you are stuck on the M55 westbound prior to junction 3 we will clear traffic as soon as possible.”
Latest news from NW Motorway Police is that the M55 is now fully open.
