Part of a Preston school playground is to have a temporary classroom built on it.
Longsands Community Primary School in Fulwood has submitted plans to create the additional teaching space.
Documents submitted by Lancashire County Council show the school needs the space to be able to run its after and before school clubs.
Currently 24 pupils and three members of staff at the club have to use the Millennium Hall which is 200m east of the school.
Now council officers want to bring the club back into school grounds.
The county council write: “The proposed Classroom would provide the facility to enable parents to deliver and pick up their children before and after school thereby reducing traffic generation at peak times.
“It is hoped the facility will be available for the start of the school term in September 2014.”
