Sporting taster sessions for children and young people in Preston are to be held.
AdvertisementBranded as the Summer of Sport, Moor Park is to host free sporting events for 11 to 25 year olds.
Throughout the summer on Mondays there will be boxing, hockey and more in the park.
Councillor Veronica Afrin, cabinet member for culture and leisure, said: “The Summer of Sport programme is a fantastic initiative. Providing sporting activities to help healthy lifestyles is a priority for the council.
“I am delighted that partners have been able to work together to ensure that young people in Preston will have a safe place to socialise on evenings throughout the summer.”
The events run from 6pm to 8pm and take place as listed below:
Monday 14 July – Boxing
Monday 21 July – Hockey
Monday 28 July – Rugby
Monday 4 August – Cricket ‘Last man standing’ game
Monday 11 August – Football
Monday 18 August – Trampolining
All events are free and anyone wanting to take part should turn up at the football pavilion.
The events are funded through a Sport England grant.
