SoundBytes and Un-Convention returns to Preston to bring a very special two-day event to the city.

The two days will try to build on the previous events staged in 2011 and 2012 in the city, each of which saw nearly 200 local artists, promoters, labels and industry professionals gather together to discuss careers in music.

Day one on Friday 18 July take place at Cotton Court.

A Start-up Music Business Workshop. Mark Hobrough of Swansfield Music presents a workshop for those who are planning a new music business with support targeting development of new ideas including:.

– Music Industry Overview – New Business Models
– Making Money in New Music Business
– How you can stay ahead of curve
– Being self-employed in the Music Industry

The second day on Saturday 19 July at St Johns Minster, Preston, features SoundBytes: Un-Convention.

The day hosts panels and talks around independent music and creativity building on the last event in 2012. The event will also focus on opportunities for artists, independent music companies in the modern music landscape and strategies to encourage collaboration.

Lined up are to speak and perform are The Heartbreaks, John Dawkins (manager, The Enemy / The Twang), Mike Burgess (HeavyFeet), Louis Barabbas (Debt Records), Laura Kidd (She Makes War), Chris Cooke (CMU Daily), James Cook (Delphic). More to be announced near the time.

SoundBytes work closely with strategic partners including Creative England, the Musicians Union, PRS Foundation, BBC Introducing and Arts Council England (ACE), to deliver a package of workshops, seminars and surgeries to develop the careers of music industry practitioners with a focus on professional gateways & opportunities for career development in management &  live music.
