A reminder of Armed Forces Day in Preston tomorrow (28 June). A packed day organised by Preston City Council.
The day starts at 10.45am with a veterans parade, accompanied by the Yorkshire Regiment Band who will entertain the crowd until 12 noon.
From 12 noon Stephen Bayliss will do a number of soul and pop classics. Then Preston’s College puts on a show until 1.30pm.
After that it’s the Army Cadet Force core of drums until about 1.50pm when the North West World War II Association perform a battle re-enactment on the Flag Market.
We are told the Spitfire flyover will be at 3pm.
Come rain or shine the stars of Preston City Wrestling will be putting on a free show at around 2.30pm.
A service of remembrance takes place after the parade with the dipping of the standards on the Flag Market and the playing of the last post.
Don’t forget the sci-fi parade as Darth Vader, Storm Troopers and Judge Dredd among others take over the area.
There will be stalls and exhibits around the Flag Market from armed forces organisations.
