Several new retail outlets are due to open by the end of the year at Deepdale Shopping Park (previously Deepdale Retail Park) in Preston.

Retailers due to open at the extension are Sofa Works, Wren Kitchen, Harveys and Oak Furniture Land.

Hercules Unit Trust (HUT), a specialist retail park fund managed by Schrodres, announced that construction work had already started on extensions to existing schemes at a number of locations around the country, including one in Preston.

They plan to build a huge 71,000 sq ft extension at Deepdale Shopping Park.

This is part of a nationwide spend of £75 million including redevelopments in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Chester. The shopping park extensions will create more than a thousand new retail jobs.

The extension to the shopping park at Deepdale will cost £14 million. It will add 44,897 sq ft of additional retail space, of which 100% is pre-let. There will also be 28,658 sq ft of ancillary use.

Hut plan to complete the extension in Preston this year with improvements to the park’s entrance and exit to Blackpool Road.

Previous plans to redevelop the vacant site were held back by the Preston Council until certain conditions concerning the proposed were met.

Ben Grose, Head of HUT for British Land, said “This £75 million investment will enable HUT to further broaden the retail and leisure mix…This will enable us to continue to improve the shopper experience and enhance dwell times”.
