A member of Preston Carnival’s organising team has spoken on Preston FM about the struggle to fund this year’s event.
Carnival is in its 40th year and preparing to celebrate its Ruby anniversary.
Leroy Allen said: “So far it’s going well. It takes a lot of time to prepare something of this magnitude.
“Normally it’s the 25th May but due to financial constraints we’ve had to stretch out our financial bad.
“It has been a struggle to get the Arts Council funds which we finally managed to secure £50,000.”
This year’s Caribbean Carnival is on Sunday 29 June.
Allen confirmed the route saying it starts at Moor Park at 12.30pm. Moves out of Moor Park onto Garstang Road up to Moor Lane, then onto Fishergate, onto Church Street, Ringway, down North Road and back onto Moor Park.
