Inside the Archives on Bow Lane
Creative writers and artists are being invited to join a council project on World War One.
Lancashire County Council’s Archive Services have teamed up with Preston Arts Association to use the First World War as inspiration for art work.
Writer Deborah Morgan is also joining the project to offer advice.
Vicci McCann, senior archivist, said: “The project aims to help local people to learn more about the county’s history using material from the nine miles of archives available at Bow Lane.
“As well as the chance to explore archive material related to the First World War, the launch event includes a creative writing workshop and we’re thrilled to have Deborah involved.
“The project will run till the beginning of August and will be followed by an evening of readings and exhibitions as part of the Preston Arts Festival in October 2014.”
A launch event takes place at the Archives on Bow Lane on Saturday 10 May between 1pm and 3pm.
