Police had to rescue a man who had been taped to a lamppost in Preston on Tuesday night.

Preston Police said a patrol attended a lamppost on Adelphi Street in the University area of the city at 9.36pm to find a man taped to it.

Officers said: “The male had been taped to the post. Consent had been given by the male for his friends to tape him up.”

Police said words of advice were given to the young man. Police also spoke to two other men.

A picture of the man taped to the lamppost was widely circulated on Twitter and Facebook.

The picture appeared to show an apple placed on the man’s head.
