A new student block of flats could rise on Moor Lane to add to the existing student accommodation.
AdvertisementA final house on Lodge Bank, Moor Lane, faces demolition and the site redeveloped as a 16-bed apartment block for students at the University of Central Lancashire.
Fulwood developer Yvonne Walker has applied for permission to demolish and build.
A statement with the application says: “There is now a builder waiting to buy once the planning is granted.
“The site is a prime area for student with all the surrounding amenities.”
Lodge Bank is next door to the existing student flats on Moor Lane and opposite the former Queen Victoria pub, it used to be a row of terraced houses which have slowly been pulled down to make way for the rise of the student population.
Full planning permission was given for the site in 2007 and renewed in 2011 but has now lapsed.
Lancashire Police have asked for security measures to be taken against burglary, as the immediate area of student halls has seen 40 reported burglaries in the last 12 months.
The full plans are available to view on the city council website.
Anyone wishing to comment on the plans must do so via the council website or email devcon@preston.gov.uk quoting reference number 06/2014/0320 by Sunday 1 June.
