Volunteers clean up a popular local fishing spot in Preston.
Thanks to the hard work of local volunteers and a conservation group paths leading up to and around Barley Pit are now more visible and safer.
The pit is well used by large numbers of anglers and families.
A group of local anglers, including young people, worked very hard last month to remove the top layer to reveal the paths, which were overgrown by grass, mud, moss and weeds.
Barley Pit in the Savick area has had a major clear up over the past few months improving platforms and clearing out the reeds. The removal of weeds assists fish with their future spawning.
The work is being done as part of the ‘Healthy Streets’ initiative in Larches and Savick. For further information please contact Louise on 01772 906954 or l.davies@preston.gov.uk.
