Preston North End are disappointed that six of their players have been named in several newspaper reports despite no charges being made.
Six players were arrested in connection with alleged spot-fixing investigated by The National Crime Agency (NCA).
Preston North End Football Club made the following statement on 4 April: ‘Further to our statement of 3rd April 2014 we have the following additional observations:
‘We are disappointed that individual player names are in the public domain given that none of these individuals have been charged with any offence.
‘Having had time to meet with all the individuals concerned we reiterate our position that all players will remain available for selection by the manager and that until or unless the current situation changes it will be business as usual.’
Officers from the NCA are actively pursuing a number of lines of inquiry in the ongoing investigation that began following receipt of material from the Sun on Sunday.
