A Preston man has said goodbye to his dreadlocks after ten years.
AdvertisementMike Fallon shaved off his dreads on Saturday afternoon to raise nearly £1,000 for charity.
Declan of Declan’s Barbershop on Fylde Road did the cutting as he stripped the three feet of hair from Mike’s head.
Mike, who lives in Ashton, said: “It was quite nerve racking at first, but I quickly got used to seeing myself without dreads. More than anything, I’m amazed with how much lighter I feel.
“My wife (Naomi) is actually quite surprised at how I look without dreadlocks, she’s never known me without.”
Mike is now adapting to life without his dreads, although they have followed him home.
He said: “I’m keeping them as a trophy and reminder of the last ten years. They are currently in a bag at home.”
The charity to benefit from Mike’s dreads shave off is the Preston branch of the RSPCA.
Mike is a big animal fan and wanted to do something to help the animal centre, which is struggling with its financial situation.
