Crews from Preston Fire Station were called out to a series of fires in the Plungington area.

From 6.15pm on Sunday a number of deliberate fires were sarted by a gang of youths.

Firefighters put out fires in wheelie bins, trees and rubbish on Greenbank Street, Brook Street and Villiers Street.

Mark Woodward, watch manager at Preston Fire Station, said: “This sort of behaviour is unacceptable to ourselves, the police and the residents.

“The public can rest assured if there are further incidents they can dial 999 and request our attendance. We will be putting initiatives in place and identifying the youths.”

Anyone with information about the fires can call Lancashire Police on 101.
