A wide ranging police search and public appeal from his brother did not bring him home.

Lancashire Police said they were not treating the death as suspicious.

The body was discovered on Monday morning and the identity confirmed today. Martin’s family have been informed.

Inspector Richard Terry of Preston Police said: “This is sad news for the family who I hope can find some comfort in the tremendous support that has come from members of the public, family and friends in trying to help us find Martin.

“My thoughts are with Martin’s family, who have also done everything they can to assist us in finding him.

“Thanks to everyone who has helped us with our enquiries.”
