Preston has been gridlocked during rush hour after a serious incident on the Penwortham flyover.
The Air Ambulance, Lancashire Police and crews from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Golden Way just after 4pm on Friday.
A crew from Penwortham fire station had to cut free two people from their car after a collision.
The driver and passenger have been taken to hospital.
Drivers were still reporting long delays around 6.30pm in the Docklands area of the city, and it took many commuters an additional hour to get home.
