Mulbury Homes, an affordable housing developer, submitted plans for a housing development at New Hall Lane in Preston.
The £5m housing development that includes 51 new homes, with a mix of two, three and four bedroom semi-detached and terraced properties will be built on the 2.8-acre site of a former mill.
Mulbury is delivering the scheme on behalf of Adactus Housing Association. They plan to make the homes available for shared ownership and rent for local families.
Adactus secured grant funding from the Homes and Communities Agency for the project.
Preston-based consultancy PWA Planning submitted the planning application on behalf of Mulbury Homes and has also been involved in consultations with the local community over the proposals.
Still to go before a planning committee at the end of April, but if approved, the work could start as soon as June and completed by October 2015.
Greg Mulligan, director at Mulbury Homes, said: “These modern properties will provide much-needed new family housing while at the same time helping to regenerate the local area by revitalising a derelict piece of land. We will continue to consult closely with the community and other local stakeholders to bring this valuable development to fruition.”
Director of PWA Planning Paul Walton said: “We have organised meetings and engaged with local people and community groups about the plans and the feedback we have received so far has been very positive.
“That consultation process will continue. This well-thought out development, with well-designed homes and gardens, will play a key role in the regeneration of the area.”
