A Preston shopping centre is set to get a sweet new store.
Millie’s Cookies will open its first store in the city, nearly 30 years since it began operating.
A 300 square foot store opens in the St George’s Shopping Centre on the Fishergate entrance.
Eight new jobs are being created as a result of the store opening.
It is being run by Anne and Ben Wade, who already run a number of other businesses in Preston – along with three other Millie’s Cookies franchises.
Anne Wade, Operations Manager, commented: “We are a family business with an extensive knowledge of Lancashire consumers and their needs.
“We recognised the unit was available and moved quickly to secure the opportunity, being located in a high footfall area within a shopping centre was our primary aim.
“The business will work in tandem with other bakeries and eateries within St George’s, offering shoppers, students and city workers a welcome treat. All our products are baked fresh on site with premium natural flavours and benefit from no hydrogenated fats, artificial sweeteners or additives.”
One of the services on offer is a giant celebration cookie service.
General Manager of St George’s Shopping Centre, Andrew Stringer, said: “This is fantastic news for St George’s and for Preston as another well-known brand commits to the city.
“It’s yet another positive sign that as a city we are attracting quality retailers.
“Millie’s Cookies strengthens the food offering in St George’s but will also give shoppers something different too with its personalised giant cookie service.
“I’m sure it will prove very popular with the sweet-smelling freshly baked cookies irresistible to passers-by.”
The store opens on Saturday 22 February.
