The newly opened Ale Emporium welcomes fans of the Bitter Suite back to the bar.
Rising form the ashes of the former Bitter Suite bar, the Ale Emporium opened on 31st January. The place looks fresher but with no massive changes.
Earlier in January former landladies Paula Bosworth and Kay Vickery finally shut the popular boozer making a decision to quit the pub trade.
The Bitter Suite opened in February 2006 and quickly became popular with real ale drinkers, recognised by local CAMRA members as being one of the branch’s most prized real ale outlets and twice winners of the prestigious George Lee Memorial Trophy award.
The local branch of CAMRA hope the change of ownership and name will help the pub continue to keep its place as one of Preston’s best real ale pubs and one of the most likely sources to find interesting guest beers.
Eight handpumps are in place so there should at least be plenty of choice.
The new landlords are Trish and Peter Mounsey from the Sun Hotel on Friargate in Preston.
Alfie Ibbotsons Beat Combo played at the “Grand Opening” of the new bar on 1st February. The venue already has a list of bands lined up to play throughout the year.
